Couples

Marriage Ministry at VAC is resourceful and diverse.  Historically we have had a strong ministry in supporting the covenant of marriage.  As times change, we are adapting the resources we use to equip and aid couples in strengthening their marriages and subsequently, their homes and families.

Marriage ministry here at VAC functions in two main areas:  pre-marriage preparation as well as marriage enrichment & enhancement.

Pre-marital resources are in place to help you.  We run a pre-marriage course a couple of times per year for people planning to get married.  We also use an online assessment tool to help with premarital conversations.  (This tool can also be used by couples who are already married to enhance their relationship.)  Finally, if your desire is that one of our pastoral staff officiates your wedding, per-marital conversations are always a good idea.  Talk to us about which of these options would suit you best.

 The marriage enrichment area is where exciting things are happening.  Within the marriage ministry we run well-promoted courses, seminars and workshops on a variety of topics by qualified presenters who will equip you with tools to better your relationship with your spouse. Topics such as parenting, finances, sex, and conflict-management are all addressed within the context of marriage.  Watch for the next one!

 Many small groups have also participated in the Love & Respect DVD curriculum.  Both men’s and women’s groups have benefited from walking through this resource.

We have established a mentorship program where older, more mature couples come alongside younger, less-experienced couples in the context of relationship to mentor and coach in basic relational life skills.
