God has created us for community. In community we find that we belong and become known. This is why we believe that Home Groups are absolutely essential. It is in these environments where we can belong and investigate what we believe together. So much of what we believe can be hidden and even dormant within us at times. Men and women need a place where they can investigate Jesus without fear of rejection or disrespect. Much of what we believe becomes crystallized and formed as we begin to discuss the information that we know about God with others. Discussion and sharing in a life giving community can be a catalyst for change by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In today's world it is becoming increasingly easy to be less connected in vital life-giving relationships and more connected to a network of people in electronic non-physical communities. These communities give the illusion of interconnectedness but ultimately fall short in meeting the need of those involved because true community needs skin on...needs touch....needs presence. True community needs love.
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
