Eagle Bay Camp – Fall Update

There are two things that are true:

1) God has been so faithful to Eagle Bay Camp in 2025.

2) There remains some significant need for the camp as we close out 2025.

The wonder of God is that He wants us to hold out to him both our needs and thanks together. We are instructed in Philippians 4:6 to present our requests to God with thanksgiving! Praying in this way is WORSHIP, as we proclaim our trust that He is a good God who has acted in the past and who will act again in the future.

One of the most important things we do at camp is worship. And while we have to await a few more months to hear the chapel filled with song, we ALL can worship God in this season as we pray for the camp -

WITH THANKSGIVING

• Full Summer Camps - With the exclusion of a handful of spots in our last children's camp, our camps were full! In fact, over 100 youth were waitlisted this year. Which means nearly 1000 campers this summer!
• Full Leadership Programs - Our high school leadership programs are at the heart of what we do. We are always eager to invest in the developing faith of young leaders, and in turn they then provide a vital investment in camp. These leaders become the leaders and staff we depend on each year!
• An Awesome Year- Round Team - In 2025, we hired a new Food Service Manager (Lucille), Assistant Director (Malcolm), and Office Admin/Bookkeeper (Joy). This meant that Dan, our Maintenance Director, was the only person returning in their role. The gifts, passion, and hard work of this team resulted in a smooth transition. What a huge gift from God to not only provide this staff team, but also bless the transition process.
• Safety - Camp boasts a large variety of fun and engaging programs, which includes kayaking, blobbing, boating, archery, paintball, wide games, and more. In all our activities this year, God kept watch over our campers, guests, staff, and volunteers.
• Volunteers and Summer Staff - God is the reason lives are changed at EBC, but the primary means He uses to see lives changed is through the people. It is no small miracle to fill a summer staff team, and the volunteer needs that the ministry of this place requires - and not just fill, but fill with such remarkable, passionate, dedicated, and FUN people! Kitchen Volunteers! Cabin Leaders! Support Staff! Maintenance Help! And More!

• Faithful Service - Speaking of staff turnover, Cathy, our trusted Office Admin/Bookkeeper retired after 20 years of faithful service. The impact of Cathy stretched far beyond the vital services she provided. She was the warmth and compassion that first met parents and guests of EBC. Her work often had to do with the numbers, but her heart was always people first. What a wonderful gift she is, and what a wonderful ministry she provided.

• 40 Years of Lives Changed - We celebrated 40 years of God faithfulness this year, and the thousands of lives that have been changed over those years. This summer carried forward that legacy, as we saw lives brought to new life through Jesus, faith stirred and strengthened, and passion for Christian service expanded in the hearts and minds of young leaders.
• First time prayers to God
• Hearing God's voice at worship night
• God helping a campers anxiety
• God giving courage to try new things, like zip-lining.
• Hundreds of requests for Bibles
• God revealed in creation
• Learning that God isn't just a story, but personally cares.
• Experiencing God's presence like a comforting hug.
• Trusting in Jesus for the first time.

PRESENT YOUR REQUESTS TO GOD

We are praying that God would provide more than $100 000 in giving between now and the end of 2025.

This prayer request represents both our remaining annual fundraising goal (50% reached), along with some additional need of the camp at this time.

The urgency of our prayer is such that the camp is projected to face a shortfall if we cannot reach our annual fundraising goal.

 At the heart of this goal are people. We work hard to keep camper and student leadership costs low, which means subsidizing rates by almost $200 (per camper). We continue to see that camp ministry is one of the most unique, dynamic, and impactful spaces for faith formation - and by subsidizing camper rates we help ensure that all can participate in this life changing experience.

As a team we are working hard to reduce expenses and steward resources. As well, we are actively adding new bookings and retreats each year, which not only furthers the mission of the camp, but also helps support the sustainability of the camp as costs rise.

One of the things we pray about and believe is that God has prepared in advance those who are able to give - believing that God has in mind to not only bless us as the recipient, but also the giver.

Reoccurring Monthly Giving: Our goal of 350 monthly givers with an average monthly gift of $30 remains in place. As this giving community grows it will provide predictable and reliable support to our ministry.

Here is a brief summary of our fall activities:

• Two week long church youth camps following summer camp. One of these is Johnson Heights, who has been coming to EBC for more than 20 years.
• Two church family retreats
• A Christian school grad retreat
• School events
• A young adult weekend
• A combination of church staff, volunteer and elders retreats
• A large youth retreat
• The men's workbee
• And of course, our very own fall youth retreat, which we host called Congregation!

Here are two testimonies from the youth camps:

Grounded Youth Camp at Eagle Bay is the highlight every year for our students. This year was no different! Our theme was “Steadfast” and it was amazing seeing our youth’s lives changed in way where they were hopeful to remain steadfast in their faith. We saw students come to know Jesus for the first time, some came to know Jesus in a deeper way, and we even celebrated as we baptized one of our students on Friday morning before we headed out and had another baptism back home the weekend after camp! Eagle Bay has become home and we are so grateful for the ways our partnership with Eagle Bay works towards serving our youth in Surrey!

Levi - Johnson Heights Church

Eagle Bay Camp has become such a special place for our group. This past summer marked our third year attending, and each time we’ve come, it’s been an incredible experience — from the amazing staff and great food, to the fun atmosphere and powerful moments with God. But this year truly stood out as our best yet. We had record sign-ups with over 150 students, more than 30 made decisions to follow Christ, and 14 chose to be baptized at the end of camp. Eagle Bay has become a highlight of our year, and we can’t wait to keep coming back summer after summer.
