Almost anything can happen on worship teams – musically speaking that is…We seem to have quite a diverse palette of musical styles and genres, but I would say our music style is most accurately characterized as ‘modern worship’.  Some people call it ‘rock and roll’ worship but that’s not entirely true – as the music ranges from reflective and personal worship, to classic hymns to high-energy corporate praise.  We have incorporated everything from southern gospel to rap to country, and use the expected instrumentation of rock bands but on any given weekend you might hear banjo, mandolin or string ensembles. When I first started working here at VAC, I even auditioned a jaw harp player, although I haven’t yet fit that into the mix!

We also have a growing group of vocalists that sing on mic, and a worship choir.  Our choir rehearses and sings once a month at weekend services and worship team rehearsals are on Thursday evenings.

Weekend services are not the only opportunity to be involved musically, as we also lead music for adult ministries, ZONE (kids worship), and other special events.  So, if you are an instrumentalist or vocalist, contact pastor Jon (that’s me) or Kim Goldsmith in the Worship Arts department. We would love to hear from you.
