Hands on Prayer Ministry
Hands on Prayer Ministry is a team committed to praying for others to see the power of God at work in people's lives, bringing them to deeper levels of holiness, freedom, and wholeness in Christ. We believe that God has called his church to be priests and ministers of the Lord in the lives of others (Isaiah 61:6) and that praying for others is God's chosen method of intervention in people's lives (James 5:16)
Our desire as a prayer team is to be unified in our approach to ministry and to operate from a basic platform of biblical guidelines that will enable us to serve the church in a safe and consistent manner. It is integral that people who take part during our regular services when the church is responsible for the ministry, are trained, accountable and in submission to the church's policy on prayer ministry.
A person desiring to serve as a prayer minister;
1. Is certain of his/her personal relationship to Jesus Christ
2. Places self under the authority of the written word and is confident in the promises and power of God
3. Is actively pursuing righteousness in their life
4. Has a consistent prayer life
5. Is not currently going through a severe personal crisis.
6. Understands the basics of intercession and has taken Hands On Prayer or similar training.
7. Is accountable to and respects spiritual authority, and is united with eh team and its purpose.
8. Has a spirit of humility, being teachable and open to correction
9. Has a heart for prayer and for people, and feels a call from God to be part of this team.
Team members seek to be available to minister to others in the body as the Lord draws people toward Him during our weekend worship services. Members endeavour to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to church services to meet in the prayer room; positioning themselves for ministry and connecting with a team partner thus establishing a readiness to serve after the service.
We are currently using the 'Hands on Prayer' ministry team manual written by Mary Kassian as our basic guidelines for ministry, and copies are available at the church office. Prayer team applications are at the church office during the week and the welcome desk in the foyer on weekends.
