P.I.E. (Parenting Isn’t Easy)
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you want to learn more skills in your role as a parent?
An 8 week parenting course facilitated by Cullie Dueck can help. It is a fun group where parents can share ideas about the struggles and successes of parenting. This course is geared towards parents of children up to the age of 6. There are free take-home activities and free children’s storybooks each week. Free child care provided if needed. Call Cullie at 545-3390 for information on course times as well as to register.
ABC’s of Parenting
This is a five week Parent Education Group facilitated in partnership between Vernon Alliance Church and North Okanagan Youth & Family Services Society.
Parents learn how we teach and learn from our kids, approaches to positive discipline, solving common parenting struggles, building positive attitudes and behaviours, and the value of patience and humour. Runs approximately 2X/year in the Spring and Fall. Call the church for dates, times and locations. Other great age-appropriate ideas can be found at mvparents.com.
Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K)
We have custom made this 8 week interactive course that helps children identify the significant issues pertaining to them as a result of their parents divorce. Ida Kicey and Joanne Cavanaugh facilitate this critical ministry using group discussion, games, videos, music, and snacks. Issues addressed include anger, sadness, guilt and forgiveness. This ministry runs approximately 2X/year as needed. Call the church for dates, times and locations.
Miracle 139
An exciting new ministry that connects new parents to be with each other during a similar life stage experience. Meetings are once a quarter so for expectant parents there would be 3 sessions to attend. Conceptual themes include nurturing spiritual babies and inviting the Lord to your birth followed by a baby shower celebration. Call the church for dates and times.
