Child dedication is a simple service in which we, the parents, publicly commit ourselves and our child to God. It’s a ceremony containing some basic core beliefs that include that children are a gift from God, that parents are responsible for teaching their children and are stewards of this precious gift.

Child dedication is not christening and is different from baptism. It is not assuring our child of eternal salvation.

This service is a step of giving our child to God, trusting Him for the plans He has for our child. Possibly the most important aspect of child dedication is the commitment that we as the parents make to nurture and guide our child from infancy, ‘to love and follow Jesus’. This is parent dedication! We commit ourselves to becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus (it is a process) and then teach and model kingdom living to our children. Our children need to be first-hand recipients of God’s grace and love through us.

This is a very significant event in your life as parents. You are following the example of families throughout Scripture and Christ-followers down through the centuries (see 1 Samuel 1:24-28, Luke 2:22.). God will honor your commitment to raise your child in the training and instruction of the LORD.

We offer a child dedication service about 3X/year or as needed. Watch bulletins and MediaShout slides for details. A request can for this can be made at any time and it is a joy to serve you in this way.
