Conversation has two components: listening and speaking. All too often we would rather be heard than take the time to hear what someone else has to say. Even when someone else is speaking we most often are preparing what we will say next rather than truly giving someone our undivided attention. It's no less true in our relationship with God. We sometimes carry on a one-sided conversation thinking that we have prayed when in fact we have simply given God our "shopping list". Taking the time to truly listen is almost a lost art form and yet God insists that He will be heard. Our lives are cheapened if all we do is speak (give out) and not listen (receive). We often hear some one say, "You need to get into God's word". That, too, is important but the other important part of the equation is, "Is God's word getting into you?" That's what we will be doing during our 'Closer Look' evenings exploring the Old Testament  together. I would invite you to join us if you can.
