Alpha 2016

WHAT IS ALPHA?

ALPHA is a series of interactive sessions that explore the basics of the Christian faith. ALPHA allows anyone to explore life, faith and God in a friendly, open and informal environment. In each session, there’s food, a short talk, and discussion in small groups.

WHO IS ALPHA FOR?

ALPHA is for everyone – welcoming people from all backgrounds, religions and viewpoints.

WHAT TOPICS ARE COVERED?

Each session looks at a different question, and is designed to create conversation. it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
Is there more to life than this?
Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
How can I have faith?
Why & how should I pray?
Why & how should I read the Bible?
How does God guide us?
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
How can I resist evil?
Why & how should I tell others?
Does God heal today?
What about the church?

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN AN ALPHA NIGHT?

FOOD: Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. All sessions start with a snack and we will enjoy a dessert half way through the night, because it’s a great way to connect, relax and build friendships.

TALKS: The talks are designed to be engaging and to inspire conversation. Usually around 30 minutes long, they explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions like “Who is Jesus?”, “Why and how do I pray?” and “How does God guide us?”

DISCUSSION: Probably the most important part of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas about the talk in a safe environment, without being corrected or judged. There’s no obligation to say anything; it’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective.

PEOPLE: We have a great team of hosts that are ready to facilitate conversations with attendees around tables over dessert each week.  These are amazing people who are also on a journey of faith like you and me.  We sit around round tables of 5-8 people which provides a great opportunity for discussion, community, laughter, and real moments to talk about faith and honestly ask anything!
